Introduction of the camp

This camp site is situated at FMU10 (Forestry Management Unit 10). It is about 33 Kilometres from the Apin-Apin town area main road of Keningau. Direction of the signboard is erected at the entrance for visitors to visit.

As it is No.1 Forest therefore conservation and recovery of Fauna and Wildlife is thes-adventures-mt-trus-madi main concern for allowing the area to rebuild due to wild fire in the year 1996. This camp site is just in between of Mt. Trusmadi for those who want to climb the mountain which is the 2nd highest mountain in Sabah. Twin Peaks Mt.Trusmadi is perhaps more tougher to climb than Mt.Kinabalu as you need to open a trail upon the climb. No staircases and all are still wild jungle with leeches and long grasses to trek before reaches the foot of the mountain

BornRoomeo Jungle Girl camp in Sabah first Entomology camp which means it is rich with insects from morning butterfly and day insects with night fall moths and night creatures comes dancing with the lights. During high season a record of more than 5000 species of insects a phenomenal which your eyes can feast on.

The road which will starts from the entry point of Apin Apin via Keningau highway from Tambunan town. Tough road ahead which needs a 4 x 4 vehicle to bring visitors to the site in case of wet weather and also uneven ground. A very adventurous journey as you can see wild animals along the road side like the wild deer, monkey, birds, beautiful green scenery and of course bumpy rides.

 

 

How we started..

  • Borneo Jungle Girl Camp was discovered in 1986 and was given operation permit on 2006.
  • This is the kind of camp or tent which we build to accommodate guest instantly.

 How do we manage to trap & catch these visitors? 

  • We use a piece of white cloth with a night light.

The tough time..

  • In the year 1986, we only apply for entry permit & setting the tents instantly.

  • However the road condition became very poor condition after the last timber company was ask to leave the place.

How can we manage such a long distance without financial assistance?

  • Jimmy, my 1st partner had used up all his income, heritage money, sold his home & borrow money from friends about (RM 500,000.00) from the year 2006 till now.

  • Mr. Tam, my 2nd partner used up his EPF saving about (RM 1,500,000.00) to do up the road & also build some wooden buildings.

  • Myself, I had to sell my home & used up my EPF about (RM 800,000.00).

Do you think it is a worth while project?

  • My partners said to leave a legacy is better than none.
  • The local camp boys now have a career & future with us in tourism.
  • The camp may not earn back our investment but we are proud to share Sabah heritage icon.
  • Forestry had upgraded Trusmadi (FMU) 10 to No.1 forest reserve.
  • Our camp will be the next icon after Sipadan.(Hopeful)
